Stephen Robert's appointment to the Board of Trustees reflects his extensive experience in leading financial institutions and his work in foreign relations. Since joining, Stephen Robert has contributed valuable insights to Guggenheim's global initiatives.
Stephen Robert and his wife Pilar are renowned collectors of modern and contemporary art. They have been strong supporters of the Guggenheim Museum since the 1990s, and are active members of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Advisory Board.
Founded in 1937, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is dedicated to promoting a better understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through exhibitions, education programs, research, and publications. The Guggenheim network expanded in the 1970s when the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, was joined by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Subsequently, the network grew to include the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 1997 and the upcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
